Welcome to the Department of Theatre!

Lehigh University's Department of Theatre is a dynamic and intensive program with experienced professors, an active production season, and a busy schedule of workshops, guest artists, and special events.

Whether your interests lie on stage or backstage, there are plenty to do here. Students discover theatre in a liberal arts setting, and our faculty are committed working artists who bring their experiences to the classroom. Our production program is an integral part of our academic program. Unlike many other programs, freshman here often find themselves on stage working in productions. Academic credit may be earned for all production positions, which are open to all students. You may act or work in stage management, set and costume construction, scene painting, lighting, sound, properties management and house management. Wherever your interests take you. Advanced students often direct or design department productions.

Theatre alumni are found in important positions throughout the theatre community. Some of our students have gone on to prestigious graduate programs such as New York University, Yale University, University of Texas at Austin and the University of Southern Florida. Other graduates have found professional success in New York, L.A. or in other regional theatre markets. Still other graduates choose to use their theatrical training in the worlds of education, engineering, medicine, business and law.

If you would like to visit us during the school year, let us know and we will arrange a tour of our facilities and a visit with a faculty member.

Lehigh University is an accredited institution of the National Association of Schools of Theatre.

We hope you join us!
